Competition Bartending

Bartending as profession was once looked down on by many people for years. It wasn't really considered a true profession but more like a temporary job for students paying their own way through college, people that were in between 'real jobs' or people that wanted to have their own supply of alcohol handy.

But competition bartending has converted all that. People are now attending bartending as an acquirement. And like most attainments, bartending needs practice, natural endowment and training.

Competition bartending began before Tom Cruise built the movie 'Cocktail', but that film brought world wide attention to it. The bartending acts Cruise applied in the movie fall into the category of 'genius bartending'. And that's the basis of almost competitions.

There are 2 main types of competition. Expo Flair and exploiting Flair. Working panache bartending competitions belongs of moves and activities that are applied in real bartending environments. Accent is placed on speed, accuracy and most significantly, no breaking or spillage.

expo flair is all showmanship. The acts you can see in an immoderate flair competition likely won't be seen at the local bar on a busy Friday night.
